A suspicious device has been found in Strabane following an extensive police search.
It was found near a pumping station in the Ballycolman area of the town.
Police received a call at around 9.45pm last night that a bomb had been thrown at a police patrol in Ballycolman Avenue but failed to explode.
PSNI Commander for the area Inspector Andy Lemon confirmed the search had resulted in the discovery of a “suspicious device.”
He added British army technical officers (ATO) had been tasked to the scene.
He said there were no evacuations as a result of the discovery.
Earlier 150 pupils and staff at Gaelscoil Ui Dhochartaigh in Ballycolman Estate were moved to a nearby community centre as a precaution.
Those behind the incident have been widely condemned.
