A number of Derry athletes are expected to challenge for honours at the Northern Ireland and Ulster “Even Age Group” Crosscountry Championships taking place at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown, today.
In the senior men’s event, City of Derry Spartan Alan Bogle and local schoolteacher Gary Murray, who runs for St Malachy’s (Belfast) are expected to be in the shake-up for honours.
Bogle claimed a podium place at the crosscountry season opener in Comber two weeks ago and will no doubt be there or there abouts again while Murray, winner of last month’s Waterside Half Marathon, will also be hoping to a medal spot in the event.
In the ladies’ race, City of Derry Spartans Catherine Whoriskey, Marina Campbell and Sarah Kivelehan are tipped to challenge for honours.
