Police in Derry have renewed their appeal to the public to ensure their properties are secure following another spate of burglaries in the city.
The latest incident occurred between 5.00pm and 8.00pm last night when a woman returned to her home at Glenbank Gardens to find a kitchen window had been broken and a quantity of jewellery had been stolen.
Also yesterday, a house in Woodbrook in the Galliagh area was broken into between 3.30pm and 10.30pm and a quantity of heating oil was stolen from a house at Jeffrey Avenue in the Waterside.
A number of tools and a laptop computer were stolen from a business unit at Pennyburn Industrial Estate which had been broken into between 11.30am and 3.00pm on Sunday.
Among the tools stolen were a sander, a polisher and an air gun.
Detective Inspector David McQuade advised home and business owners to ensure their properties were secure.
He said: “If you live in any of those areas and saw suspicious activity, we would like to hear from you.
“We know that burglaries have taken place across the city, so, wherever you are please keep a look out strangers or unusual activity.
“The numbers to call with information are 101 – the non emergency number – or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
