Police in Derry are appealing for information about an assault on a 15-year-old girl by an gang of four girls.
The attack was one of two assaults which occurred within 30 minutes of each other in the Pennyburn area of the city on Saturday, 18 October last.
It occurred at about 10.25pm when the girl, who was standing alone outside a funfair, was approached by four female youths.
One pushed her before they all grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground.
Inspector Terry McKenna said the victim was assaulted by all four while on the ground.
He added: “A male then helped her to her feet. The pair only made it a short distance away when the group of girls pushed her to the ground again. She got up and ran off.”
Twenty-five minutes earlier, a 16-year-old youth who had left the funfair, was followed by a group of youths who punched him in the head and knocked him to the ground.
Insp McKenna appealed for anyone with information to contact police.
He said: “If anyone saw these incidents and can help identify the culprit we would ask them to make contact with police at Strand Road.”
Insp McKenna said information could be given on the police non-emergency number 101.
Alternatively, it could be provided to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
