It’s scoreless at the break in the Ford FAI Cup Final between Derry City and St Patrick’s Athletic at the Aviva Stadium.
Its been a very exciting half of football, with both teams being presented with some glorious opportunities to break the deadlock.
Derry City’s defensive rock Ryan McBride should have scored from a header after a wonderful delivery from a free-kick by Paddy McEleney.
Rory Patterson also squandered a great chance for the Candystripes, after being put clean through on goal Patterson was unable to convert.
Christy Fagan has been guilty of squandering a number of brilliant opportunities for St Pat’s in the opening half.
Derry manager Peter Hutton will be worried by the influence being exerted on the game by St Pat’s midfield duo Keith Fahey and Greg Bolger.
St Pat’s have enjoyed the greater possession in the opening period, and look the most likely to make the breakthrough as they try and end their 53 year FAI Cup Final hoodoo.
