Gregory Campbell has been barred from addressing the Northern Ireland Assembly for the day.
The move follows the East Derry DUP’s refusal to apologise for mocking the Irish language.
During a debate on the Irish language in the Assembly yesterday he used the phrase “curry my yoghurt can coca coalyer” in reference to Sinn Fein MLAs stating “go raibh maith agat, Ceann Comhairle” (thank you speaker) during Stormont debates.
His conduct has been ruled as falling “well short of standards expected from MLAs”.
However, the barring order will have little effect as Mr Campbell is currently in Westminster.
