A post mortem is due to be carried out today on the body of Stephen McCloskey, the missing Derry man who was found dead late yesterday afternoon.
The remains of the 33-year-old were taken to Letterkenny Hospital last night after being discovered in a river in the Carrowreagh area about half a mile from Bridgend in Co. Donegal.
The father-of-three had not been seen since leaving his sister’s home at Ard Grange in Derry on 28 October last.
His family had expressed concern about his welfare after his Nissan Terrano 4×4 jeep was found in the Burt area.
His body was discovered by members of a local gun club about two miles from where the jeep had been abandoned.
Gardai remained at the scene overnight and a forensic examination of the area is expected to be carried out today.
Mr McCloskey’s partner, Sinead Lynch, who is expecting the couple’s fourth child, has asked for privacy.
