The death has taken place of John McCready, one of Derry’s best known and much-loved singers.
John, affectionately known as the “Singing Coalman,” passed away yesterday after a long illness.
Best known for his love of country music, he had played for over 50 years and was a avid supporter of local charities.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, daughters Jacqueline, Marie and Marguerite, and sons John, William, Darren and Edward.
His remains will leave his Bracken Park home in Galliagh at 9.20am tomorrow for 10.00am Requiem Mass in St Joseph’s Church.
He will be laid to rest immediately afterwards in the City Cemetery.
