The SDLP in Derry is to meet this week to choose its candidate for next May’s Westminster election.
Party members will meet in The Playhouse in Derry on Wednesday night when they are expected to select sitting MP Mark Durkan to stand for election once again.
Mr Durkan (54), a former leader of the SDLP, has been the Foyle MP for nine years, after first being elected to Westminster in the 2005 general election, retaining the Foyle held by John Hume.
Last month, Sinn Fein selected former Mayor of Derry, Gearóid Ó hEára, as their candidate to stand in the Foyle constituency.
