Derry is once again on alert ahead of predicted wet and windy weather.
A week after the region was hit by flooding, the Met Office has issued a “yellow alert” ahead of a predicted frontal system which is expected to bring a period of persistent and, at times, heavy rain with gales forecast to gust up to 60 mph in exposed parts.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said the “alert” would be kept under review with the possibility of it escalating to “amber.”
As a precaution, tonight’s greyhound racing at Brandywell Stadium has been cancelled – last Thursday’s meeting was also called off after the track flooded due to heavy rain.
