Union representatives are to meet the chief executive of Derry City Council today after the group calling itself the “IRA” reiterated its death threat against council staff.
The council’s Community Safety Wardens were withdrawn from their duties following threats against them earlier this week.
The threat has been widely condemned.
Today’s meeting the council’s chief executive, Sharon O’Connors, follows reports that other council staff have expressed concerned about their safety.
Yesterday, a protest rally, organised by the NIPSA and UNITE unions, was held outside the council’s headquarters as a show of support to the threatened workers.
