SECURITY ALERT DECLARED A HOAX

The suspicious object at the centre of a security  alert in Co Derry this morning has been declared a hoax.

Army bomb disposal experts were called to deal with to object found at Sunnyside Street  in Maghera.

A number of residents who had been out of their homes have been allowed to return.

PSNI Inspector  Sam Shearer has appealed for information.

He said: “Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information about this incident should contact police in Magherafelt on 101.”
