Goalkeeper Ciaran Gallagher has left Derry City and returned to Finn Harps after a year at the Brandywell club.
The 22-year-old, from Raphoe, started his career at Finn Harps making his debut in 2009, just two days after his 17th birthday, going on to secure the number one jersey as first choice goalkeeper for the next three seasons.
He was one of Roddy Collins’ first signings at Brandywell at the start of last season.
However, after a season as under-study to the consistent Gerard Doherty he has decided to return to Finn Park.
He has played for the Republic of Ireland at under-17, under-18 and under-19 level.
Harps manager Ollie Horgan said he was delighted the keeper was returning to Ballybofey.
Horgan said: “During my discussions with Ciaran I could sense he was relishing the challenge of coming back and playing for us. There is nothing wrong with getting experience at a different club and I think his time at Derry will stand to him. Ciaran obviously knows a lot of the lads here so he will have heard the way we like to approach things.”
Gallagher said he was “absolutely delighted” to be back at Finn Park and was looking forward to getting pre-season started.
He added: “When I stepped into the clubhouse to sign it was like I was never away. I spoke with Ollie about our plans for next year and I have no doubt we will be well prepared when the league campaign starts.” he said.
