A series of workshops to help establish the framework for the development of an Integrated Economic Strategy for the new Derry City and Strabane District Council will take place across the city and region next week.
Organised by Derry City Council and Strabane District Council in conjunction with Invest NI, the workshops will help identify and establish the priorities and framework for future economic development activity.
They will also look at resource proposals and the transfer of powers from central government which will include economic development, tourism, and regeneration powers.
Kevin O’Connor, Economic Development Manager with Derry City Council said the new integrated economic strategy would be closely aligned with existing strategies, policy documents and actions plans and will take into consideration the needs and economic growth potential of the new Council area, drawing upon the combined City and rural context.
Encouraging the public to attend this consultation, he said the workshops would be particularly useful for small and medium enterprises, sole traders, new business start ups and social economy businesses.
The workshops will take place as follows:
26th November, from 7pm to 9pm at the Fir Trees Hotel, Strabane;
27th November, from 2pm to 4pm at the City Hotel, Derry;
27th November, from 7pm to 9pm at the White Horse Hotel, Derry.
