The two Brians – Stanford (17) and Mulgrew (18) – were the top finishers in the Jim Bresland Trophy played at City of Derry Golf Club today.
Both players scored 36 points and after the tie break Mulgrew took first place ahead of his playing partner in second spot.
Prehen’s webmaster Malachy Jackson (14) finally made the podium with an excellent third place finish on 35 points, a score that led the field until the final two cards were handed in.
A superb birdie at the 10th hole was decisive in him edging Richard Burton (12) into fourth place on the count back.
Richard Hamilton (13) took the fifth and final place with his 34 points, a total that was equalled by five other players and needed a count back to separate them.
