A 29-year-old man is being treated in Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry after being shot at teatime in the city.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his right leg in a paramilitary-style shooting at Cecilia’s Walk in the Bligh’s Lane area of the city at around 6.00pm.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan has appealed for information.
He said: “I would appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident to contact Police at Foyle on the non-emergency number 101.
“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
