Police in Derry are appealing for information about a burglary in Eglinton.
Detective Inspector David McQuade said a house at Riverview Glen was left unattended by the residents on Friday afternoon and when they returned on Sunday evening they discovered it had been broken into through a rear door.
Insp McQuade added: “On entering the house they found that some items had fallen onto the floor in the utility room, a couple of drawers in the kitchen had been opened, a large glass vase and a glass picture frame were moved in the living room along with some cushions. A lamp that had been left on in the hall had been turned off.
“The master bedroom on the ground floor was entered and a number of jewellery boxes removed from a high shelf. Some items of jewellery were left behind, but some gold jewellery was stolen.
“From information from neighbours it is believed the break-in occurred between 7.00pm on Saturday and 7.00m on Sunday. A dog was heard barking close by at 12:30am on Sunday.”
Insp McQuade said information could be given on the police non-emergency number, 101, or by calling the Crimestoppers Charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
