Software services company SQS Group Ltd is to create a further 30 high quality jobs in Derry and Belfast, it has been announced.
The jobs will be located between SQS’ Development Operations Centres within the Northern Ireland Science Parks in Derry and Belfast and brings the total employed at the centres to 82 by 2017.
The jobs are being created with £210,000 an investment grant from Invest Northern Ireland.
Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Arlene Foster said the new jobs would pay twice the Northern Ireland private sector average salary in the region of £37,500 and contribute more than £1 million a year to the local economy.
She added: “I understand that the SQS directors evaluated a number of other locations for this investment before selecting Northern Ireland because of the quality of our data communications infrastructure, the availability of skilled IT resources and Invest Northern Ireland’s support.”
Rob McConnell, Director with SQS NI, said: “We are very well positioned in Belfast and the North West from a technical skills and service delivery perspective to take advantage of the global opportunity for DevOps.
“This is a growing enterprise capability that many of our blue chip clients are engaging with SQS to support. We’ve been very happy with the calibre of software engineers that we’ve been able to recruit in Northern Ireland with proactive support from Invest NI.
“We are confident that the Development Operations Centres will continue to support our growth and ensure that we remain a global leader in the provision of quality software services.”
