unnamed-7AT least one Campbell in Derry is happy with the Irish language!

Sinn Féin Councillor Kevin Campbell  has praised Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín’s defence of the budget for Irish language body, Foras na Gaeilge.

Speaking after the North South Ministerial Council’s language body met in Armagh to agree the budget, the Irish language spokesperson said;

“Agreeing this budget will allow Foras na Gaeilge to plan ahead and work positively towards its aims of promoting and developing the Irish language.

“In particular I welcome Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín’s defence of the budget for Foras na Gaeilge and the Ulster Scots Agency in the face of plans from the Irish government to impose cuts.

“Carál Ní Chuilín worked with her counterpart in the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht to secure and protect the budgets for these bodies.

“Her stance in defending these budgets is a clear statement of the importance of the Irish language and Sinn Féin’s commitment to its growth and development.”
