Detectives from the PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch investigating the supply of controlled drugs into both Derry and across the North have arrested two men.
The suspects, aged 23 and 24, were arrested in Manchester this morning (Wednesday 03 December) and are being brought back to Northern Ireland for questioning.
They have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class B drugs and being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.
It is part of an operation against a Manchester-based criminal mastermind who is originally from Derry.
Detective Inspector Tom McClure from Organised Crime Branch said: “The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into an organised crime group which has been involved in bringing controlled drugs into Northern Ireland.
“Over the past year we have made a number of major drugs seizures in Northern Ireland amounting to more than £2 million. Seventeen people have already been charged as part of this investigation.”
One of those arrested and charged is Declan Gallagher.
He had to flee Northern Ireland after dissident republicans twice tried to kill him in both Derry and Donegal.
