psnilandroverPOLICE in Foyle are appealing for information about thefts and burglaries in the area.

On Sunday afternoon, 7th, a man living at Disertowen Rad, Newbuildings, discovered that two sockets seats had been stolen from a caravan at his property.

Meanwhile, a quantity of heating oil was stolen from Madison Avenue in Eglinton at the end of last week.

And a car stolen in Derry on Saturday was later found crashed in Co Donegal.

The Ford C-Max was stolen from Academy Terrace at around 6.30am and found abandoned and crashed near Carrigans just over an hour later. Two youths are thought to have taken the car.

Anyone who saw it being stolen, driven or abandoned is asked to contact police at Strand Road or Gardaí at Carrigans.

Detective Inspector David McQuade appealed for local people to be extra vigilant as Christmas approaches.

He said: “Many people will have a greater number of valuable items than usual at home. Keep them secure in your house and avoid leaving them around the foot of the Christmas tree if it can be seen from outside. It is also vital to keep does and windows closed and locked at night and when you are out.”
