Approval has been given for street names to be given to a number of new housing developments across Derry.
The new names were approved at Thursday’s meeting of Derry City Council’s Environmental Services Committee, where elected members gave their consent to the new streets being named.
A development comprising of 127 new homes constructed by Apex Housing Association Ltd on the former St Peter’s School site will be known as Magowan Park, as it lies within the existing townland of Ballymagowan.
A new development also constructed by Apex Housing Association adjacent to the existing Old School Lane at Bradley’s Pass will be known as Old School Court (numbers 1 – 12) and Old School Place (numbers 1 – 12).
Meanwhile, 24 new dwellings at Daly’s Brae, Altnagelvin will be known as ‘Brookmount’, as it is situated on the site of the former Brookmount house.
Approval was also given at the meeting to name ten new dwellings within a new cul-de-sac at Butler’s Wharf, Strathfoyle as Butler’s Wharf Mews, after an application was received by O ‘Kane Devine Ltd.
