THE sister of Sorcha Glenn has made a plea for YOU to help save other girls from dying – refused a cervical smear test because of their age.
Brave Sorcha Glenn, 23, died in October. Earlier we reported how she left Christmas presents for her boyfriend and family.
Sorcha first visited her GP surgery in June 2013 – she asked for an early smear test after being worried about her family history of cervical cancer – but she was refused due to being under the age of 25.
Her sister Orlagh Robson has set up an online petition to CHANGE THE RULES. You can help her by going online and signing it.
Said Orlagh: “My sister Sorcha Glenn was a beautiful and inspirational young lady, sadly taken from us aged just 23 following a 13 month battle with cervical cancer.
“Sorcha had initially asked for a smear test in June 2013 but was refused based on age. After experiencing symptoms, Sorcha managed to get a smear test and was diagnosed in September 2013.
“We do not want any more young ladies to be refused a vital smear test that could save their life, because of an age limit.
“We would like to petition that any female who requests a smear test should be provided with one, and it should not be refused based on age discrimination. As cancer does not discriminate.”
