CLIFTONVILLE’S Joe Gormley scored a second-half hat-trick in 13 minutes as the Reds saw off Institute 4-0 at Solitude today.
The home side were ahead through Jay Donnelly after just four minutes.
Institute had a couple of half chances with Cormac Burke hitting a couple of long-range efforts wide in the first half.
But it was all Cliftonville in the second half as David McDaid’s superb through ball set up Gormley to score with a first-time strike on 54 minutes.
The second goal was also set up by McDaid on the hour and the third was poked in at the back post in the 67th minute.
It was Gormley’s third hat-trick in six weeks and takes him to 24 goals for the season.
