Council to don their festive jumpers this Friday.
Derry City Council staff will be polishing their baubles and dusting off their Santa hats this Friday in support of the Mayor’s Christmas Jumper appeal.
Councillor Brenda Stevenson is encouraging all staff to spread some Christmas cheer by donning their most festive ensemble for work, and donating £1 in aid of the Mayor’s two chosen charities Something Special and Circle of Support for Autism Families.
With only a week to go until the big day, it’s the perfect way to give a small token to a charitable cause, Cllr Stevenson said.
“I’m really hoping everyone will support the Christmas jumper day on Friday, especially at a time when we are all spending so much on gifts and socialising. Even £1 can make a difference to local charities, who provide much needed services all year round.
“The money raised on Friday will all go directly to my two chosen organisations, who are both working so hard to make Christmas a special time for the many young families they work with.
“And if you don’t have a jumper to hand, then get creative for a good cause and get out the tinsel – I want to see the council offices sparkling this Friday!”
Anyone who wants to make a charitable donation to either Something Special or Circle of Support for Autism Families over the Christmas period can do so by calling in to the Council offices on the Strand Road.
