Sinn Féin’s Gearóid Ó hEára has praised the role of the GAA in strengthening local communities.
Speaking after visiting the recently redeveloped premises at Doire Cholmcille CLG with Councillor Eric McGinley, Mr Ó hEára and Mark Higgins Doire Cholmcille he said: “I was pleased to visit the excellent new facilities at Doire Cholmcille GAA Club this week to see the great work the club is carrying out for the local community.
“The club has a new playing surface and changing facilities to help it develop and expand gaelic games in the city.
“It is at the heart of the local community in the Glen area of the city and the club members and officials have worked tirelessly to build the club over the years.
“Across the country, the GAA not only promotes sporting opportunities and healthy lifestyles for young people , it is also champions Irish culture and provides facilities to communities.
“It is the lifeblood of many communities across Ireland and I look forward to continuing to support the GAA in the city and beyond.”
