A DERRY girl aged just nine has been bullied so much by other children in the street where she lives that she told her mum she didn’t want any presents this Christmas – just a friend.
The heartbreaking story, posted on social media, has once again highlighted the cruel and sickening fallout from bullying.
The girl’s mother has now been offered counselling by a professional organisation in a bid to stop the bullying, and help the little girl recover from her ordeal.
“She’s being badly bullied in our street,” said the devastated mother.
“She can’t even go to shop because they (the bullies) have her hounded. My heart is broken. I can’t even sleep a wink at night.”
The mother said the girl’s teacher had noticed the issue had called the mother into school this week to speak to her and give her support.
The mother also said she was hoping to get her child into a sport or club to make friends and get her away from the bullies.
“She said she doesn’t want a present from Santa this year; her only wish frum Santa is a friend.”
It’s now understood the girl has been offered professional counselling; with a number of sporting and other organisations have offered the girl places with them.
