BREAKING NEWS Exclusive: By Chris Massey: SANTA has arrived in Derry, his spokesman has confirmed to Derry Daily.
It follows reports of him being spotted in the skies above Galliagh a few minutes ago, although we have also had sightings of him in Gobnascale and in a field just outside Eglinton.
His spokesman Elve-is Dasher told Derry Daily: “He’s good isn’t he! He literally can be in one place one minute and another place the next so I reckon all three sightings would be fairly accurate.
“I spoke to him a while ago on the phone and he’s doing a couple of jaunts around the city first for the craic. It’s a windy evening and he’s having a bit of fun with the sleigh but it’s handling well.
“He’s disappointed it hasn’t snowed down there in Derry but it is a lot colder than it was in Sydney earlier. He said it was 25C and far too hot.”
Our eye-witness in Gobnascale, John Doherty, said no-one believed him at first.
“I shouted to the kids that I had just seen Santa and they all laughed but then he flew by again and my eldest daughter Mary, who is nine and a half, saw him and she was awe-struck. She’s in bed now,” he added.
