THE PSNI and forecasters are warning of black ice on untreated roads overnight and into Sunday as temperatures fall below 0C.
Roads are already treacherous in many rural areas with roads in the Tamnaherin, Lettershandoney, Killywill and Slaughtmanus areas in a poor state.
“Widespread icy patches are expected to readily form on untreated surfaces this evening and during Saturday night, especially where snow cover exists or where wintry showers occur,” said a Met Office spokesman.
“The public should take extra care and be aware of the possibility of some disruption to travel.”
PSNI Traffic units are operating in the North West this evening.
Officers have already dealt with a number of incidents, including one at Crescent Link earlier.
