TWO Derry men landed winnings worth an astonishing €64,000 on RTE TV gameshow Winning Steak tonight.

Neil Johnston won the top prize as a guest on the show, a brand new car worth €30,000.

And another Derry man Paul Frazer won prizes worth €34,000.

Paul, who works at Donegal Meats after transferring over the Border from Foyle Meats, joked before the show started that he’d definitely be spending money on a holiday…in Spain or Buncrana!

Paul revealed he and his father Denis were hanging a dart board up at his home in Derry last Saturday when his wife Julie shouted that his name had been called out to appear on this weekend’s show.

Auntie Lynn Porter, his granny and “me muckers” were all in the audience, prompting presenter Marty Whelan to ask: “What are your muckers? What does that mean?”

Paul had to explain what a mucker is!

He also said he felt his late brother and grandfather were watching over him.

And they certainly were – as Paul landed a €10,000 luxury holiday to Thailand.

He didn’t get to spin the wheel, coming so close in that round.

But he did win cash worth €24,000, taking his prizes to €34,000.

Neil Johnston won the top prize in the Cash or Car competition…bagging a new Volvo S60 worth €30,000 (£25,000).
