ROAD RAGE BUST-UP AS BARGAIN HUNTERS BASH EACH OTHER IN CRESCENT LINK CAR PARK

Crescent Link on a quieter day

SHOCKED shoppers watched on as two road rage motorists scuffled in queues at Crescent Link retail park.

Long tailbacks on Saturday left some motorists fuming as thousands of bargain hunters descended on the Waterside shopping centres.

But some impatient motorists couldn’t cope with the stress of it all.

Eye-witnesses said trouble flared as one car leaving the car park opposite MacDonald’s jumped the queue in front of another vehicle.

“Horns blared first with the man who had been jumped waving his fists in anger,” said the shocked sales shopper.

“But it went mad when the other guy gave him the fingers back again. The next thing I know the two of them were out of their cars and were wrestling between the cars.

“They both ended up on the ground.”

The young mother said most people behaved well with the traffic chaos.

“But these two seemed to just lose it. They were roaring and shouting and other people came in to separate them. They’re probably at home right now totally embarrassed by it all – well they should be. That’s what it’s like (the traffic) during the sales.”

She added: “If they can’t cope they should stay at home.”

So many cars packed with shoppers descended on Crescent Link on Saturday afternoon that many of them began to park illegally outside the homes of a nearby housing development.
