ANGRY staff at a Derry call centre have threatened a mass walk-out over conditions there, claiming they are bullied – with some taking prescription tablets to cope with the stress of working there.
The strike threat follows alleged incidents in recent weeks and the suspension of staff for alleged lack of performance.
A number of insiders told Derry Daily they are considering a walk-out ‘when they least expect it’.
“People get suspended without pay and there seems to be nothing anyone can do about it,” said one whistleblower.
“The company refuses to recognise any sort of union and we feel we have no rights.”
A colleague told us: “I know so many people who are on tablets for their nerves because they work here and the pressure we are put under.
“When something does go wrong its the agents (staff) who get it in the neck, get suspended and get blamed; the managers who know exactly what is going on never take responsibility.
“To be honest a lot of us are fed up. We feel we have no rights at all and it is so unfair.
“It has reached the stage now where we need to just all walk out and see how they get on. A wee bit of bad publicity might put some manners on them.
“The problem of course is we could all get fired and we all have bills to pay with the little money we do earn here.”
Other staff have made similar claims.
