DISSIDENT Gary Donnelly has had a prison sentence overturned for his part in causing £2,600 worth of damage to the city’s historic Walls.
The dissident councillor has agreed to pay a third of the cost of the damage – with two other men paying the rest.
He had originally been jailed for six months but today Donnelly was given a 12-month conditional discharge.
He and two friends had defaced the Walls last May with political slogans.
The money will go towards the Government’s Northern Ireland Environment Agency and Foyle Search and Rescue.
