PLANS for a £20 million development of the former Arntz plant in Derry could create up to 400 jobs, Sinn Fein’s Gearoid O’hEara said today.
He was speaking after meeting the developer who wants to include a new supermarket, forecourt, health centre and a number of small businesses on the site.

“These are ambitions plans for a £20 million development at the site which could create up to 400 jobs,” said O’hEara today.
“The developer said he hopes the former factory site can be transformed into a mixed use site involving retail, medical and business units.
“The plans are at an early stage and will be subject to full appraisal and consultation but it is encouraging to see to proposals to redevelop this site with the potential to create employment.”
More than 120 people lost their jobs when Arntz closed its Pennyburn Pass operations in 2010.
It’s understood the anchor tenant for the new development could be Asda.
