MOTORISTS in Derry are being warned to take extra care this morning after a snow fall earlier.
There are already complaints that some roads are in a poor condition as they haven’t been gritted.
Most parts of north county Derry are worst affected.
“Snow is coming in thick and fast and it could continue like that, particularly on the higher ground,” said Harold Henry from Transport NI.
“Engineers will continue to monitor the situation and if further action is required it will be taken. Some temperatures have fallen before zero so there is a risk of ice as well.”
A number of local schools have also closed including Cumber Claudy Primary School and Evish Primary School in Strabane.
The PSNI has warned motorists to take extreme care, and avoid travelling at all in rural areas worst affected by the snow fall.
