ROSEMOUNT MAN PUNCHES CREEPER BURGLAR DURING BREAK-IN

creeperburglarA DERRY man took on creeper burglars during a raid on his home.

The man is being hailed a hero after tackling the thieves during an sneaky early morning break-in at his home in at Bethany Hall in Rosemount.

A PSNI spokesman said: “At approximately 7.40am, a man heard people in his house. He went downstairs and found two men there.

“One man made off with a laptop, however there was an altercation between the home owner and the other man which spilled out onto the street.

“The other man eventually made off with a games console. The two men are believed to have headed in the direction of Park Avenue on foot.”

The two men are both described as being in their late teens or early 20s and of thin build.

Aanyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area or who knows anything about this incident is asked to contact CID at Strand Road on the non emergency number 101.

This afternoon the victim of the burglary was being hailed a hero by residents.

“Fair play to him,” said one resident.

“You can’t sleep in your own bed now without some scumbag coming in and stealing your stuff. I hope he gave the b***** a good thump.”
