DERRY could be facing cuts to water supplies within hours.
Politicians have been told tonight by NI Water that a strike will hit Derry, north county Derry and Strabane by tonight.
The news has led to people starting to stock supplies of water before they are cut off.
Sinn Féin Councillor Kevin Campbell said: “I have received a call from NI Water to say that due to ongoing industrial action there is a possibility that there could be disruption to the water supply in the city over the next 24 hours.
“I would like to alert the local community and particularly people living on their own and families with young children that this could happen, so that they can get prepared in advance of any loss of water supply even for a few hours.”
MLA Pat Ramsey said: “NI Water are advising elected representatives that there is a possibility that because of the ongoing industrial action there may be some difficulties in the Derry and Strabane areas surrounding areas with water supply over the next 24 hours.”
