Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed the news that bollards are to be erected on a section of Rosemount Avenue following safety concerns for pedestrians.
Councillor Cooper said the problems around traffic along this section of Park Avenue and Rosemount Avenue have been well versed over recent years.
“In this instance there was a particular problem when there was a bottleneck of traffic that some drivers were mounting the footpath.
“I was contacted by a number of local residents with concerns for the safety of pedestrians as this is a very busy street.”
The DRD Road Service has now agreed to put in a number of bollards on a small section of Rosemount Avenue.
“It’s hoped that this will reduce any potential dangers to pedestrians.”
