Derry City have told Celtic to make a bid for striker Michael Duffy after they rejected their attempts to bring him over to Glasgow for a third trial.
Duffy has been on trial twice now with Ronny Delia’s side and has impressed the management staff at Celtic Park on both occasions.
In his last trial he scored two goals for Celtic’s U21 development squad in a 3-1 win over Newcastle United.
However, despite Duffy making a huge impression in that game, Celtic now want to have yet another look at him.
Derry City officials have ruled out that option and have told Celtic if they want to sign the talented striker then they should make a bid now.
Duffy himself has said he’s not willingly to go on trial again and said if they want him they can negotiate a deal with Derry City now.
Duffy joined teammate Patrick McEleney on trial at Brentford last week and is reported that the duo performed well at the Championship club.
It’s rumoured they’re keen to take both players over as a package and are believed to be in negotiations with Derry City.
However, Duffy’s first preference would obviously be a dream move to Celtic a club he’s supported since he was a boy.
Celtic will need to move fast though as Brentford prepare to swoop with just days left before the transfer window closes.
