Institute FC striker Paul McVeigh has left the club by mutual consent after just six months at the club.
McVeigh made his debut in Institute’s 1-0 over Warrenpoint Town in August, and scored the winner between the two when the sides met in October.
That victory was the actually the last time Institute won a match in the league.
Since then they’ve gone on to record several draws and suffered narrow defeats, but they actually haven’t won a game in the league since that night in Warrenpoint.
McVeigh was a regular in the side in recent months, and performed well, his tireless work ethic ensured he was a popular player with the club’s supporters.
Unfortunately he wasn’t able to get the all important goals Institute needed following the departure of star striker Stephen O’Flynn to Crusaders.
That prompted Paul Kee to sign strikers in the January transfer window and that meant McVeigh wouldn’t play as regularly as he would’ve liked.
USL side Letterkenny Rovers seen their opportunity and swooped and snapped up McVeigh who informed the club of his decision to leave on Monday night.
