A man who fell into the Foyle from the Peace Bridge today has passed away in hospital.
Police say they are investigating all the circumstances of the incident.
The man was seen going into the water just after 10am.
Rescue crews were on the scene in minutes.
“Police alerted Foyle Search and Rescue who recovered the man and brought him to shore within 12 minutes of the alarm being raised,” said a PSNI spokesman.
“He was attended by paramedics and taken to Altnagelvin Hospital, but passed away at around 1pm.”
Police have appealed for eye-witnesses to the incident to come forward.
