PSNI Foyle and their colleagues throughout the North West have appealed to motorists to only travel if necessary as roads conditions deteriorate.
The Glenshane Pass has been hit with the biggest snow fall.
However roads around other parts of County Derry are also very bad – in particular Claudy, Park, Eglinton, Dungiven, Tamnaherin.
The main Derry to Belfast Road at Burntollet has been covered in snow and motorists are reporting very poor driving conditions there.
Transport NI, formerly known as Roads Service, said in a statement that snow showers continued to affect its road network on Wednesday evening, adding that “with sub-zero road surface temperatures there is also the risk of ice on roads”.
“Salting of roads on the scheduled network has been ongoing from this morning but there remains the risk of salt wash-off due to the snow showers,” it said.
Police say motorists in the North West should expect some disruption to journeys this morning.
An Amber alert remains in place until later today.
