CO DERRY footballer Shane Ferguson set social media alight last night – after joining Rangers on loan.
The 23-year-old from Eglinton, who played gaelic football at youth level for County Derry, faced a storm of abuse from a minority among the green side of Glasgow.
One twitter user taunted: “Better change that Fields of Athenry ring tone son.”
Others urged people to try to change his biography on websites to ‘Free Derry’ with yet another tweeting the comment above from a mocked-up wikipedia page and taunting him for playing for Northern Ireland.
Rangers fans however warmly welcomed the move, several describing him as a ‘class’ player.
Newcastle fans weren’t that pleased however, most of them giving off about their owner Mike Ashley.
