THE community of Strathfoyle is in morning after the death of Paddy Kelly, a young man described by those who knew him as a bright, smart, good-looking young man.
Paddy was recovered from the River Foyle on Tuesday night.
In response the organisation Youth Life has been invited into the area to help young people at this difficult time.
Glowing tributes have been paid to Paddy with dozens and dozens of comments on social media throughout the day.
A PSNI spokesman said:: “A male was removed from the River Foyle by police and colleagues from Foyle Search and Rescue at around 9.30pm last night.
“He was immediately transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment however he subsequently passed away.
In a statement issued through their Facebook page, Strathfoyle Community Association said it was offering all assistance possible to the family.
It also said it had invited YouthLife “to engage with the young adults within the area in relation to the loss of a dear friend and member of their community Paddy Kelly”.
YouthLife specialise in supporting children, young people and their families through bereavement, loss and separation. The workshop will take place at the Youth club commencing at 18:00 Monday evening.
Any young adults who would like to talk to someone in relation to the tragic loss of a dear friend can do so at this workshop. Please if you need to talk to someone please do so.
