FIREBUG HOODS have attacked two children’s play parks.
A wheelie bin was set on fire at a play park in Lettershandoney last night.
It came after a similar incident in Galliagh – the latest in a series of antisocial crimes there in recent weeks.
Both incidents are being investigated by the PSNI.
In Lettershandoney, residents living near the children’s play park say a gang of up to 20 youths have been terrorising local people for weeks.
They have also targeted the homes of elderly residents on the estate.
“These youths are from the area, they’re from the parish,” complained one resident.
“Their parents need to wise up to what they are doing. People have had enough – preying on elderly people in their homes is disgusting. How would they feel if it was their parents or grandparents?”
MLA Pat Ramsey has hit out at those behind arson attacks on play grounds in the city describing them as ‘disgusting’.
