Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £60,000 project to provide a 750metres cycle link from Maghera to Craigadick Park and Ride.
Whilst the Department’s resource budget for activities such as routine maintenance is severely reduced, funding for this scheme is from the capital budget for major projects and new road schemes which is less affected by the current pressures.
The project will connect the successful Craigadick Park and Share facility at the intersection of the A6 to Maghera town along the A29 Tobermore road. The works are is due to begin on 16 February 2015 and expected to take six weeks for completion
Danny Kennedy said: “This scheme will greatly improve the safety for cyclists and encourage commuters to get involved in an integrated transport strategy, with easy access to comfortable and frequent Goldline bus services to Belfast and Londonderry.”
The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and TransportNI will keep the public informed of any change.
TransportNI has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
