GAA pundit Joe Brolly is set to speak at one of the country’s most popular religious festivals.
He will open the Novena at The Graan, the retreat centre run by Father Brian D’Arcy just outside Enniskillen later this month.
“I liked the way Fr D’Arcy spoke at the funeral of Eamon Coleman (one time Derry manager), and when he asked me to do this, I was happy to return the favour,” said the Dungiven man.
Brolly said he is “not a particularly religious person”.
He admitted: “I have never been to the Graan, and it’s my first Novena to speak at. Fr Brian told me I would need to be there one and half hour before it starts, so it sounds like an Ulster Championship match in Clones.”
The Novena of Hope runs from February 28 to March 9.
