GENUINE charity collectors are operating door to door in Derry this week and say bogus callers are easy to spot.
It follows reports of suspicious activity in several areas of the city in the past week.
However two charities – Unicef and the National Deaf Children’s Society – say volunteers are working legitimately in the city.
The bogus collectors were pretending to be from a different organisation.
The NDSC says all its volunteers have ID, and anyone can call them at any time to verify who they are.
It says it is not permitted for their fundraisers to accept cash donations or cheques. They raise money through direct debits.
If you have any questions, feedback or concerns about an NDCS fundraiser call 0845 231 1617.
