SDLP Derry City Councillor Jim Clifford has raised concerns about a strong odour emanating from the sewer network in the Ramore Gardens and Lislane Drive area of Creggan.
Cllr Clifford told Derry Daily, “A number of constituents have complained to me about a strong odour affecting Ramore Gardens and Lislane Drive.
“The powerful odour is causing headaches and nauseousness, and this health issue needs to be resolved.
“I have contacted both NI water and the Council’s Environmental Health officers to try to flush the sewer network and also identify the cause of the problem.
“They informed me that the problem originates from turpentine being poured into the sewer.
“I would therefore ask that those responsible stop this behaviour because it is causing health problems for their neighbours.”
