DERRY’S hurlers were seconds away from a dramatic victory over Kerry in their Division 2A clash today.
The Oak Leaf county travelled to the home of Austin Stacks in Tralee – whose footballers were playing Slaughtneil in the AIB Club All-Ireland semi-final.
And Derry almost made it a doubly memorable day for gaelic games in the county.
A 73rd minute Shane Nolan pointed free, earned Kerry a share of the spoils in their 0-14 all draw at Austin Stack Park, Tralee.
Derry trailed by 0-06 to 0-00 after 20 minutes, but showed superb resilience to battle back, and indeed led by a point late on, until Nolan’s last gasp equaliser.
Division 2A results:
Kerry 0-14 Derry 0-14
Westmeath 2-20 London 1-06
Carlow 3-17 Wicklow 1-06
